the bill that had been vetoed has been overriden by congress it was on cnn.com a couple of days ago so we have nothing to worry about.bush is the reincarnation of hitler and he'll be gone soon enough

There is not a simple answer for whether or not the the high stakes nature of the LEAP test for kids with disabilities is a violation of the ADA. A child with a disability certainly should be provided with reasonable accommodations that are necessary for them to take the LEAP, and those accommodations should be decided upon and written into the child's IEP. There are also alternatives to the LEAP test, but the problem with this kids who take an alternative assessment are not allowed to earn a regular high school diploma. The high stakes nature of this test is problematic for all children, and especially for kids with disabilities who face even greater challenges in the testing arena. Under the No Child Left Behind Act, this test is used as an accountability test to ensure schools are teaching their students appropriately, but in Louisiana, it is the children who are being held accountable.
