I just have to grip a little then hopefully I will feel better. I went this morning to take my son to a dentist for a cleaning. I am in a wheelchair. Well, I got there and not only was there no handicap parking but no ramp ! Oh I was so mad, I was thinking now how am I going to get in the building. Well , I ended up parking on the side where the employes are suppose to park and I had to park long ways so that my wheelchair left on my van could let down on the side walk. I guess all together I took up about 4 parking spots. Anyway , when we went in I told the lady at the desk how I parked because of no ramp. Well, while I was sitting there waiting on my son to get done with the dentist, I was getting more aggravated. Now this is a pretty new building and has only been there for about 2 years. So when it was time leave I knew there was no way I could see the dentist with him working on somebody so I asked for the office mangager. I explained to her how I had to park and told her that the ADA law says that all public places has to have a ramp and handicap parking and that some of the parking has to be for a van with a lift. She told me that the doctor was aware of this and is working on it. I told her that was good and thanks. But you would think that a new building and it being a dentist office just like any other doctor would have a ramp and parking already set up when they opened up for buisness. I just hope they do what they say and get it fixed. It was a tight spot to get my van into. I'm going to drive by there in about a month to see if they have even started on fixing this. I sure hope they have .

This is my first time doing a blog but I've been on here for a little bit. My name's Christie, I'm 36. I'm in a wheelchair because I have Spina Bifida. I have been divorced for 14 yrs. and I have a 16 yr. old son that I have custody of. He keeps me busy sometimes . He will be graduating from high school next year and plains on going into nursing, which I am so proud of him for. But now that he is almost grown , I've been really wanting to meet someone again. But have had no luck at all. Seems like the wheelchair makes men not interested in me. Which kind of gets me down sometimes. I spend a lot of time on the computer so I'm looking forward to making some friends here. Anyone wants to talk send me a message , I love hearing from people. Thanks for reading.
