Some people, I suppose, will always equate being disabled with being helpless.......so Bonnie's right.......we'll always have the job of advocacy..........and so we will.........I would think that by now.......this brother and sister know eachother well enough that a simple conversation should clear up any driving needs.........the roommate needs to........butt out !.............seems like the siblings have things pretty well ironed out...........best of luck with your schooling.........a Masters.....I'm impressed !...........peace and love.......Norma

The Big Issue, as I would call it. One of the main concerns in disability awarness work, is another way of looking. at it. Your brother, who apparently grew up with you, is now influenced by another person's point of view. What I would say you need to do is be aware of this lack of understanding, forgive it if necessary, go your own way if you must, for your own independence, and now know why it is important for all PWD to be disability advocates, now and in the future. Perhaps you can change his behavior with a good heart-to-heart conversation. Whatever your coming path, I wish you the very best, and am sure you will do well with your very positive attitude.
