Tim Poindexter hasn't been posting many weird news items lately. Although I've been caught up in semester finals (mine and Big Kid's----don't get me started----he has a bad habit of doing well in class until the last 2 weeks and then embarking on a path of self-sabotage, leaving me to be the assignment police and whip-cracker), I have been peeking in and reading here and there. Between naps, that is. ;-) I've just been pooped!

Now that class is done, I'll get a chance to drop by and read what you've all been up to!

The other day, I read one of the silliest articles I've ever seen. Must have been a REAL slow news day out there in Florida!

A man went to the hospital with chest pains. He had a chest x-ray taken, and several people thought they saw Jesus there in his chest.

That's right. Many on earth have been waiting for the second coming, and all this time, Jesus has been a squatter in this guy’s lung.

First of all, there is so much wrong with this that I don't know where to start. How about with the most obvious?

Who actually knows what Jesus looked like? Other than artists’ renderings through the ages, made from their own (mostly European) imaginations, who actually knows? Despite geographical probabilities, the Jesus and Mary depicted in images from my WASP childhood books were golden-haired and Caucasian.

Why is it that whenever some humanoid-looking-anomaly-thing shows up in like say---toast or a chunk of chocolate---certain people rush to proclaim it the image of Jesus or the Virgin Mary? Like they’d really know?

Why Jesus over a member of ZZTop?

Sheesh.

Did the doctor instantly cut his chest out and put it up for sale on eBay for an extravagant amount of money?

also, Jesus was a middle eastern Jew (Hebrew). he was probably not that tall, had darker skin and a large nose... :) I'm pretty sure the Bible even describes him as being unimpressive looking.

i just want to point out that ANYONE is impressive looking if they are in the left lobe of someone's lung...
