We have been discrimated against at Petsmart just recently by a customer, not management and at an eating establishment. When I asked the guy not to pet him and stated he is a service dog, the guy replied "I can show him kindness if I want too." The guy was a regular smart___. I have too get his information from the corporate office and I have not decided yet as to what I'm going to do. My twins have SADS. Any kind of stress or startle could cause them to code. My husband & I have been watching the twins almost entirely 24/7. Twins will be 20 years old Sept 6. It is so wonderful to have the dogs help us. Since Dec. they have alerted us to several serious problems. I am sure they will just look like cute little dogs to people. We went with a small breed so they would not frightened my twins & a cuddly one so they would feel like a stuffed animal to them. They will be working the whole time at the restaurant. But we could keep a closer eye on the twins & not take the dogs in. But this means we could not travel. Leave the dogs in a hot or freezing car? Leave the dogs at home? It is much safer for me to drive with my eyes on the road than watching the twins.
We carry a defibrillator with us too. I am sure if we had to use it in the restaurant it will ruin the patrons' supper more than a dog.

The real problem isn't people that comes in with their pet dogs! Seriously the real problem is people like yourself that figures if you cannot see a disability then the person isn't disabled. Henceforth then their true service animal isn't a service animal unless they do a task for you to see. My problem is that people need to see something to think it's real. However many of us has invisible disabilities even people that are blind. Reason I added blindness to the equation is the fact that what does a blind individual look like. As there are many degrees of blindness many like the hearing impaired that cannot be for seen or recognized unless you violate their rights and say show me proof of your disability.

You mention whats the purpose of having a service dog in a restaurant when they obviously are not doing a task! Do you really know they are not. After all a hearing dog alerts their partner of sounds. So unless you are under the table right beside the dog you wouldn't see the little nudge or a paw on a persons foot. Which brings me to the Parkinson service dogs that puts their head when laying down on a foot or a paw to unfreeze their partners muscles. Many real tasks are not as easy as other tasks to be recognized such as an individual that has seizures. Should these individuals leave their service dog home that protects them from injuring themselves because others did not easily recognized that these service dogs are performing a real hidden task!

Many service animals do not have to pick up a fork just to be considered as a service dogs. Also some mobility dogs may not pick up but alert to a drop that's still a real task.

Should only the physical individuals that another can say OH Yes you are Disable therefore you by my definitions are allowed to have your service animal here.

And that's the point of all these civil rights violations. Why should those individuals with invisible disabilities be treated differently then those that one can tell they have a disability. You said you have friends that has dogs from CCI did you also know that that organization includes training many service dogs for those with invisible disabilities? Those that one cannot recognize them having a disability.

I understand what your saying about Allergies. However many individuals jump and say they have an allergy with dogs while yet the next breath they have 3 dogs themselves. If the case that they are so allergic to dogs then in reality they should stay home. OK that doesn't sound nice but I was making a point like people say we with service animals should leave them home.

Another thing to think about is how many individuals have dogs in this country! How many grooms their animals on a daily basis like many people with their service animals! How many individuals working today is next to animals and then they go out without showering and changing clothes to a restaurant, especially if they are on a break!

See dog dander is present even without one having a service animal around. So my point would be should all those individuals around animals daily stay home too. So those with allergies can go out and eat! Usually if an individual in a restaurant is allergic to a dog severely they would normally request if the other client would move to another spot further or they request being put in another spot especially if they come in afterwords. I had that situation once or twice, don't have a problem with that. Just do not tell me leave my service dog outdoors so somebody could be rude to him not to mention that defeats the purpose of having a service animal in the first place.

I will tell you many times individuals that claims to have allergies don't seem to have them until they realize a service animal is under a table. Isn't that interesting!

Again people with severe allergies also are allergic to more then just dog dander. At least many of my friends that truly has such allergies are. They also realize that when they are out and about in public that they know they may bump into a person that has a service animal. They comprehend this as when one is in a public place they usually meet all kinds of individuals. One that is allergic severely with perfume or chemicals cannot tell another person to hey go home wash off you stink makes me sick. That's basically the same as one that has a service animal as that is their medical aid to give them their Independence.
