Now that the majority of my friends and family know about my MS diagnosis, I am facing a new problem: How do I tell new people in my life about my MS? Unless I am in a social setting with a close-knit group of my friends, I never broach the subject of my disability. I don’t want Multiple Sclerosis to define who I am. On the other hand, it would be completely awkward to avoid the subject for weeks or months, only to drop the MS bomb on a new friend or girlfriend.
So where is the balance? How long do I wait to tell somebody about my MS and how do you do it?

That's a tough one if it isn't suddenly obvious. I think it's something you just sort of add when you're chatting about what you've been up to lately or when you're getting to know someone. But not as a grand announcement, more as an aside. I work in such and such an industry, I like cats, I have M.S. and I am a huge sucker for Angelina Jolie movies. Ya know?
