An unfortunate trend continues. Yesterday in San Diego a homeless amputee was killed on the streets of downtown. As if that wasn’t disturbing enough, police say the man was beaten to death with his own crutch. This disturbing pattern of violence has been sweeping across the nation with rising numbers for the last decade. There was the incident where a homeless man was set on fire. There was also the story of the two teens that beat three homeless men with baseball bats. One of the men died from his injuries.
As we can see from the map below, this is a trend that is becoming more frequently seen nation-wide.
This map displays attacks on the homeless in 2006 by state. As we can see, these are not isolated
incidents. They are becoming commonplace accross the nation.

An attack in Florida shows a teenager beating a homeless man using a baseball bat. Two other
men were attacked during this incident - resulting in one death.

Oh my god, that's horrifying.
Thank you for keeping us informed on this vital information. I wonder why my state (Florida) has such a large number of attacks? Am discussing this with the CILO in our community.
