Former New York Governor, Eliot Spitzer was caught setting up a hanky panky episode with a high profile prostitute. With his wife by his side (Good gosh, woman, why?), Eliot stepped down and the Lt. Governor, David Paterson, has stepped up to lead New York.
David Paterson is legally blind and is considered the first governor with a disability since Franklin D. Roosevelt. According to the New York Times, Paterson developed an infection when he was a few months old which lead to severly limited vision. Paterson's parents wanted him to attend a school with peers with normal vision, and they ended up having to move to place him in a mainstream setting.
David Paterson served on the board of the American Foundation for the Blind for several years. Fox News ran an article: What It Means to be New York's First Legally Blind Governor.
Hopefully when all of this publicity dies down, New York will realize that David Paterson is just a governor who happens to be blind.
