Alltop--an aggregator that lists all the top websites in one place, grouped by category--has just released a new category: Disability. Popularity alone doesn't propel a blog to the top of the Alltop list. The gang behind Alltop has the ultimate decision about who makes it to the top. Like they say on the "About" page, the selections are "highly subjective and judgmental."
Also on the "About" page, you'll find an explanation of how the topics are organized and selected:
Q. How do you decide which sites and blogs are in a topic?
A. We use a patent-pending, semantic computational algorithm derived from the post-doctoral work of Guy at Stanford. Just kidding. We rely on several sources: results of Google searches, review of the sites’ and blogs’ content, researchers, and our “gut” plus the recommendations of the Twitter community, owners of the sites and blogs, and people who care enough to write to us. Let us declare something: The Twitter community has been the single biggest factor in the quality of Alltop. Without this group of mavens and connectors, Alltop would not be what it is today.
Two of my blogs, A Deaf Mom Shares Her World and Jobs, Careers and Callings are on there and it will be interesting to see if Alltop drives more traffic to those sites. Also sitting on the top is Disaboom--way to go, Disaboomers!
There are some great blogs from other Disaboomers on Alltop--check them out!
