Senator Hillary Clinton just interrupted the nominating process at the DNC to move that Barack Obama be nominated by acclamation. Here's what I could hear of her speech:

"With eyes firmly fixed on the future, in the spirit of unity, with the goal of victory, let’s declare together in one voice right here right now, that Barack Obama is our candidate and he will be our president! Madame Secretary, I move that the convention suspend the procedural rules [...couldn't hear this part] All votes cast by delegates will be counted. I move that Barack Obama be [applause now too loud to hear."

The delegates voted with a chorus of "ayes" to pass Senator Clinton's motion, and Barack Obama is now officially the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. They've moved on to speeches, as the convention hall is abuzz.

From my vantage point, I heard lots of comments along the lines of, "Classy move, Hillary," and, "The best decision."

Just when you thought Hillary Clinton couldn't top herself with class and dignity after her speech Tuesday night, she showed it again when she proposed suspension of the nominating rules (ie-the role call vote) and asked that Barrack Obama be nominated by acclaimation. I saw it on TV. Her speech and the reaction gave me goosepimples and made me proud to belong to a party that can attempt to put differences aside for unity. It was a classy move by a classy lady-Hillary. What could top that? A classic, powerful, supportive, unifying speech by Bill Clinton tonight. I'll be watching and listening.

I think today made sure that Hillary will be elected 2016 as the first female president of the United States, after two terms of Obama/Biden. Also, Bill reminded everybody that he is the greatest president the U.S. has had in the recent history.

"Yes Barack paying millions will definitely guarantee my vote." "Well Hilary this is new to me but here you go." What a crock of shit this country runs on.

Putting aside the rule of law as long as the majority is in agreement is neither noble nor praiseworthy. This is both highly hypocritical and ironic after Clinton spent months demanding that "every vote be counted" in an effort to illegally seat delegates from Florida and Michigan.

Well it might be classy, but it is wrong. Delegates came from all over the nation to let their voice be heard. They wanted to vote. That is one of the most exciting parts of the convention. The ROLL CALL vote and she took it awa. Class or no class we all want to be heard. She upset a lot of delegates by that move. Several of them are saying they are not going to vote in the general election.
