It is unenforceable, since there is no practical provision for monitoring. the stores will not monitor it because they don't want to offend their customers. The police will not monitor it because most violations occur in private parking areas. It ends up as a privileged parking area for inconsiderate people. I see violations wherin all the reserved parking area users are plainly not disabled, unless being over-weight counts.

Re: Clerk Sues Abercrombie & Fitch, Alleging She Was Banished to Stock Room Because Her Prosthetic Arm Didn't Fit Retailer's "Look Policy"

Loretta A. They have a right to employ only those who look attractive in the clothing they sell, but if the employee is attractive, as she appears in the photo, she should keep her job and/or be able to sue. People need to get used to looking at an prosthetic arm or hand. If a particular customer is immature enouch to be bothered by having to see the limb, he or she should make an excuse and leave momentarily, then come back and look for another clerk.

The supervisor who sent the clerk to the back room should be suspended and sent to be educated on dealing with people who have physical handicaps.

Re: Illinois Residents May Now Report Disabled Parking Fraud Online

I think Ollie makes a very legitimate point about the burden of proof. After I heard about the first law suit in 2004 I vowed never to enter an A & F store again and I certainly would never again purchase anything from them for myself or my two daughters. I also refuse to buy anything with the Abercrombe & Fitch label even if it is second hand. Ms. Dean should be awarded everything she is suing for and more and since Abercrombe & Fitch obviously hasn't changed their prejudicial policies they shouldn't be allowed to stay in business. Why would anyone who knows about these atrocities shop there? It's so wrong in so many ways I can't even believe anyone would be in agreement to work for such a company. Riam is a beautiful girl and I am sure she can find a better job working for a company who appreciates her for her abilities.

Sincerely,
Carol Braden-Williams

As a disabled woman, I had to learn about these after becoming disabled at 36, thru no fault of my own such as Riam.. There is a website you can look at to see about these accomadations. That website is jan.WVU.edu/job/index.htm. This website is helpful in explaining all of your rights as a disabled woman/citizen! I hope this helps!

Re: Clerk Sues Abercrombie & Fitch, Alleging She Was Banished to Stock Room Because Her Prosthetic Arm Didn't Fit Retailer's "Look Policy"

Yes, A&F is going overboard with company policies that discriminate against a person who has a disabiolity. Have any of you bothered to hear or read the other side of this story? Remember there are always two sides and we shouldn't prejudge until we've heard both sides. I have read the other side's story and it sounds very feasable.

Also, even if Ms Dean's story is accurate, do we really want to work at a place like that? Do we really want to tell privately owned business how to run their business? It's like us being told how to run or home, etc. I am the father of a double amputee but I believe it's FAR more dangerous for the government to tell businessess how to run their business than it is for A & F to descriminate against someone whom they may think could have a negative effect on their sales whether they are right or wrong.

With my disability, I can't stand for long periods. We post ourselves here like damaged goods in a second hand flea market for forgotten souls
We think ourselves less of our imperfections for like these toys no one will have us
We are cast aside in all things to be forgotten and silenced by their little boxed world
Like a lapper colony we flee in the night to find our own kind that can tolerate the very sight of us
But we are so wrong in doing this fatal act as if we should be embarrassed as once I was
Look past what you see as pity and you will see the great admiration they have for us all
For in the light of day they see us shine and we are stronger then they feel of themselves
It is not pity they cast a glare but fear showing their frailty and ignorance if they could even cope
They know not of our world and no shoes do they have or want a mile to walk
In this place I found the best of us and the best of me
In this place, this island of misfit toys
