I know this sounds like I'm whining, and I guess it is.  But I don't know how to find some income.

My daughter and her husband got the internet and a phone for me a couple of months ago.  I have a house that I hope that I don't want to lose.  I am getting a very small disability that they are threatening to get me to pay this back, because I don't have the money to go to the doctors to reactive it.

So the problem is I don't have enough to live on.  I have been through all of the government agencies in the phone book.  I have tried to contact the government agencies on the internet.  I have tried all of the "nonprofit" agencies that I could find.  The websites that have a "contact" button, have not replied.  Maybe I don't have the right line, I don't know, but the botton line is, I haven't gotten any help.

I have gone to the Vocational Rehabilitation for over a year and a half.  I spent money going to schools and going to companies that they required me to go to. Now that are telling me that I don't qualify for a loan, because I don't have a job and they can't help me.

I have looked for a job that I can do at home, but most of them are phone help and I can't hear phone names or addresses.  I don't mind doing any job, but I just can't think of what people will pay for.  Scam after scam on the internet.  Does any one have any suggestions?   I am end of my wits trying some that will help.  Any suggestions?

I'm in the exact same posotion. I'm trying to go back to work soon ! I've been disabled 6 yrs, & I would prefer to work from home. There are a LOT of things I can still do. I have more than 20 yrs,. in clerical, collections, investigations, many PBX switchboards, many years as a CNA, home health care...just all kinds of work but nobody will hire me. They don't always know upfront about my disability. One employer, once they found out, my Dr. ordered an Ergonomic Eval. for my work site, wrote the reccomendations & gave them to my Supervisor. After several weeks went by they still refused to adjust my worksite & I had to quit because I could no longer do the work sitting the way it was. Now I currently have 28 applications with same co. for openings that are still open. I've done the required testing...typing & spelling...did very well & still no contact from them. I'm beginning to think there's some discrimanation going on !!!!

Hi, Emma: You are not "whining" at all; you're human...and frustrated. Believe me; I know the feeling. I know that you mentioned VR, so are you getting active assistance from them? Also, what about your local labor office? One more thing, have you tried a local center for independent living? They may be able to provide you with more guidance. Since I don't know the city in which you live, here's the link to info regarding your centers for independent living, http://www.bcm.edu/ilru/html/publications/directory/wyoming.html. If I can help you (or Susan below) with anything, let me know. I'm searching, too.

I am in basically the same position as you are and have been doing what I do best (internet research) on the work at home thing. These are 2 of the web sites I have found that have the best leads for the real jobs. http://www.ratracerebellion.com and this one http://workspace.liveops.com The first has a daily list of job leads alll for free (click the dark green box top left on home page). Below that box is a catagory listing of job that lead to pages of companies that have different kinds of jobs to work from home. Some are free lance, some part time, there seems to be a lot of jobs for writers and right now teachers for the home schooling companies. Most all seem to require high speed/broad band internet, the virtual call centers require certain things like a quiet office background during working hours as well as a corded phone and maybe a headset. Some will ask for $$ for a background check if you are handling others bank info or credit card info but only after you are seriously condiered for hire, but NEVER pay for leads or jobs as those are scams. The 2nd site I listed is more of a networking site for people who work rom home or want to work from home. Most of them work as virtual call center reps taking phone orders from infomercials. There are some companies that will pay more for collections calls or if you have a license to sell insurance. The first site has a nice grid layout of the virtual call center/customer service companies. It shows how they pay (are you an employee or indep contractor) if they handle in bound, out bound calls, paid training and pay range. I also have been networking on the WorkSpace site working thru the threads reading about certain companies, if they are good to work for, are the hiring right now, etc... I'm listed on there as Mshores as well. It costs nothing to join, no spam and the people have been nice there too. The only people willing to talk about being disabled on there so far are the Fibro crowd. Hope this helps! Shelly

I have also been looking high and low for a job I can do at home. I have a son that is 15 months and I would love to be able to stay at home with him. Paying out for childcare is very expensive. It almost seems like it is costing me to work. I found a good site to make extra income. I just type responses to topics I like. I can even start new disscussions. It dosne't pay alot at first but the more people you reffer and the more time you spend typing the more you earn. This a completely free sign to join. That itself is hard to find. I never paid a cent for goining. If you go to there is a place for FAQ's and it sould take care of any questions you have. Just type www.mylot.com/?ccropley1 and it will take you to where you can start. Like I said it is completely FREE!!!! The next opption I have, and one which I am also working at the moment is more of a home based business opporuntiy. My dad and I both have joined and it has proved true to us. I have a neat little video that you can watch too that explains it all. There is more earning potention in this opportunity. www.my.ws/ccropley1 You'll come to a page with a ticket looking icon just fill in you name and email and you can watch the video. These are options that ae helping me. I'm on my way to being a stay at home mom. I hope these help and if they are not what you're looking for I hope you find something that suits you. Thanks
