So I spent 2 years of thinking it was all in my head. I have a sister who was diagnose in the 90's, who finally convinced me to see another Dr. Thank God I did. It has taken a long time but for now we seem to have found the right treatment for me. Which 225 mg of Lyrica twich a day . Lexapro 10 mg once a day. Norco for the breakthru pain and Luneta when needed for sleep aid. I also have sever Osteoporosis & Osteoarthritis. Still can't seem to pace myself on good days, so I tend to over do and then pay for it for days.
The muscle spams are awful nothing we tried seems to help. Have tried flexaril, soma. Any ideas out there? Plus the skin is so sore and sensitive.

Re: fibro and meds

Hi my name is Delores, I was just recently diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. I have had this pain since 2005 not realizing that I actually had a problem until I just couldn't get up to go to work anymore. I have had pain in the neck, upper back, lower back, down my spine, both arms and my right leg since Nov. 2007. I guess that is when it started getting bad. I have taken hydrocodone, skelaxin, gabapentin, methocarbomol, and sorts of others prior to being diagnosed. All I knew was that I hurt all the time. Now I am on oxycodone, lexapro, and ambien. These things don't actually seem to be working but the oxycodone does ease the pain a little bit. I am scheduled to see a Rheumatologist this week and hopefully there will be more information. I am having a hard time dealing with this because I have pain everyday as soon as my body wakes up the pain begins. It is so depressing as well. I had many crying spells last month but I read my bible everyday and that helps a whole lot. God Bless each and every one who is reading this and we all need to pray for each other as well.

Re: fibro and meds

Fibro suffer for 15 years

Re: Member Introductions

My name is Carol.....I am a cancer survivor.....Over the last 6 years since diagnosis, I've been "blessed" with diabetes, bleeding ulcers, Bels Palsy, severe arthritis, kidney failure, and of course the fibromonster, etc. I have been a disaboom member for less than 2 months, and feel most at home at the "Living with the Pain of Fibromyalgia" site; however, I would like to get to know more people in the fibro community. I was just diagnosed by 3 docs about 4 months ago. The kind support and education here have been great for me. So, I look forward to meeting you if I haven't already. Take care.....wishing us all less pain and more joy.....Carol

Re: fibro and meds

HI, I'M 47 AND HAVE HAD FIBRO SINCE I WAS AROUND 13-15
I WAS FINALLY DIAGNOSED WHEN I WAS 32. AFTER GOING THRU SURGERIES FOR FEMALE PROBLEMS AND HAVING THE FIBRO ON TOP OF THAT IT TOOK ALONG TIME TO ACTUALLY FIND OUT WHAT WAS GOING ON. NO DR. COULD FIGURE OUT WHAT WAS WRONG SO WE STARTED ELIMINATING THINGS ONE AT A TIME. I HAVE BEEN TO 3 DIFFERENT PAIN CLINICS. THAT WAS ACTUALLY WHAT HELPED ME TO GET THE MEDICATIONS I NEED TO DEAL WITH THE PAIN DAY TO DAY. I ALSO HAVE A VAGINAL NERVE THAT IS TIED UP WITH ADHESIONS THAT CAUSES SEVERE PAIN. I TOO HAVE BEEN THRU ALL TYPES OF PILLS. FINALLY GOT PUT ON MORHPHINE AND THAT IS WHAT KEEPS ME SAIN. IT SOUNDS REALLY BAD TO SAY THAT, AND IT IS HARD TO GET A DR. TO PRESCRIBE THAT BUT AFTER YOU FINALLY GET TO THE POINT THAT YOU HAVE TO GO TO A PAIN CLINIC THEY REALIZE THAT YOUR NOT JUST A DRUGGY. I'M ON THE METHADONE ALSO, THAT AND KADIAN BOTH ARE THE STRONG THINGS I TAKE THEN THE VICONDIN AND ULTRAM ARE THE IN BETWEEN MEDS. MY HUSBAND HAS ARTHRITIS REALLY BAD AND HE KNOWS WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE IN PAIN SO ATLEAST HE BELIEVES ME. MY FIRST HUSBAND DIDN'T. MY DAUGHTERS ARE IN THERE 20'S AND HAVE NEVER KNOWN THERE MOM TO BE WELL. NOW I HAVE MY 1ST. GRANDCHILD ON THE WAY. I WANT TO FEEL GOOD ENOUGH TO ENJOY THIS BABY. I FIND THAT IF I TAKE A NAP DURING THE DAY, OR ATLEAST LAY DOWN AND REST THAT IT HELPS THE FATIGUE. MY BEDTIME MEDS KNOCK ME OUT, BUT I DO WAKE UP SEVERAL TIMES IN THE NIGHT MORE NOW THAN I USED TO. IT MAY BE TIME TO ADJUST THOSE MEDS. HAVING A GOOD DR. THAT WILL LISTEN TO YOU IS A MUST. MINE PRETTY MUCH DOES WHATEVER I NEED HIM TO. HE TRUST THAT I KNOW WHAT I'M DOING AND HOW I FEEL SO HE GOES ALONG WITH WHAT I ASK. I TOO HAVE HAD TO QUIT WORK AND FILE FOR DISABILITY. THAT IS A HARD THING TO WIN UNLESS YOU GO TO ALL SORTS OF SPECIALIST ALL THE TIME. I'VE HAD TO APPEAL AND REFILE SINCE I HAVE NO INSURANCE AND NO LONGER GO TO ALL THE SPECIALIST. THE SYSTEM IS REALLY MESSED UP. MY SPECIALIST TOLD ME SINCE THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY COULD DO FOR ME THERE WASN'T A NEED FOR ME TO CONTINUE TO COME ESPECIALLY SINCE I CAN'T AFFORD THERE FEES. MY FAMILY DR. IS THE ONE WHO FILLS MY MEDS. THE COURTS DON'T THINK YOUR SICK UNLESS YOU SEE ALL THE SPECIALIST ALL THE TIME. I SHOULD HAVE QUIT WORK YEARS AGO WHEN I WAS SEEING 5 DIFFERENT DR.S AND I WOULD HAVE WON MY CASE. BUT, I TRIED AND TRIED TO WORK AND THAT ALSO COUNTED AGAINST ME. SAY A PRAYER THAT I WIN MY CASE THIS TIME. IF I DIDN'T HAVE CHRIST IN MY LIFE, I COULDN'T HAVE MADE IT THIS FAR.
YOU JUST HAVE TO DO THE BEST YOU CAN AND TRY TO ENJOY THE LIFE THAT YOUR GIVEN. DON'T LET IT PASS YOU BY, BUT DON'T OVERDUE ALL THE TIME EITHER. PACE YOURSELF THRU THE DAY AND LISTEN TO YOUR BODY, IT WILL TELL YOU WHEN YOUR OVERDOING IT.
