Services for kids with learning disabilities in high school are becoming harder and harder to receive. Teachers are not certified and professional services are scarce. Language and speech professionals are not available at this level nor are psychologists to deal with adolescent frustrations amongst students or their families. I.E.P.s are not being done properly and these kids are slipping through the cracks in our public school system. With no job training these kids will be forced to have low paying jobs and live in economic despair at best. Shame on our government for not putting their best interest up front. How will these young people be able to recognize the same in their own offspring?Special need services should be at the top of the list for educaters and qualifications for teachers who have learning disabled students in their classes should have certification in special needs. We as parents need to lobby for higher levels of specialized training for the new teachers.

Well......of course you're right Karen...........Children with learning disabilities........especially in the precarious teen years.......should have qualified help.......but as usual......it boils down to that bottom line.....money ! If the money isn't targeted for these kids......they will fall into the cracks.........and it'll be a terrible loss for all of us. .........I wish I had an answer...........Peace and love.......Norma
