Last night was my first night off from blogging here in over two months. The reason I took the night off was to get ready for this Careers and Disabled event in Boston. I hate the way they spell it. Disability is not a bad thing in my book, but a subculture. The job fair was a complete bust as far as I was concerned. There were only forty people there advertising jobs and there were no jobs for writers or artists. On a good note, I ran into Tony who runs the Multicultural Independent Living Center of greater Boston, MILCB for short. They focus on providing independent living services to people of color who are underserved by the mainstream disabilities rights movement.

I interviewed there in the fall to be their youth advocate but I didn’t get the job. Now I gave Tony my new resume, and he says he’ll call me next week, I don’t know what job he’s thinking of me applying for nor do I care. It’s a chance to get out of Belchertown and help people of color with disabilities become better people and the services they deserve. Under dream job in the Martina’s dictionary is anything working at that place. Even if it means hiring all new PCA staff and leaving my friends. I’m sure there is a green party branch in Boston, I’m sure there are poetry readings and places to sell zines, maybe more so than here. I’m pretty sure I could handle myself and all things I need should the need arise. I’m not going to let this opportunity pass me by.

I wonder if I should call Tony if he doesn’t call by Friday, what do you all think?
