Oh, What a Night!

Well, yesterday was my party to celebrate the completion of the four-month cycle of chemo treatments, for my cancer. A gala of 10 of my closest friends and family partook in the festivities. I couldn't have asked for a better time. Everything was perfect!

We started with Hors d'oeuvres and champagne. Then, Caesar salad made tableside, followed  by family-style platters of lemon pepper chicken and fresh cedar plank salmon! Delicious creamed spinach and asparagus spears accompanied the main courses. I hope your computer is "drool proof" I'm about to describe the deserts! It was a choice of the following two: a medley of freshly picked berries (blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries) in individual tart shells, served warm with a cobbler topping and a scoop of  creamy vanilla ice cream on top. The other desert, an ice cream sandwich kicked up a notch! Instead of typical chocolate wafers, the sides were made of homemade, rich, chewy chocolate brownies and the ice cream in the middle had huge chunks of Snickers bar!

Needless to say, it was a " belly buster" of a good time. However, I didn't want the night to end without me expressing my gratitude to everyone who came. So, I included little "goodie bags" of assorted chocolates, licorice and nuts for each one to take home. I also wrote a poem that I shared with them, in a little speech I gave. It was the following:


To all my fabulous friends here today,

They say the best things in life are free,

I don’t really know how that could ever be

When tried and true friends are worth more than their weight in gold (or gas per galloon these days!!!)

That’s not just something I’ve been told

All of you who've gathered here mean the world to me

And I thank you lovingly for all your thoughts, prayers, and amazing generosity!

So , HAT’S OFF TO OUR FRIENDSHIP!!!

Unfortunately, all good things must come to end. Although this great evening is over, the memories will last a lifetime. Yet, I will be able to relive some of these moments today... I brought home the leftovers!!!
