Some of you may recall from my previous entries that my son uses a V-pap machine to sleep at night. Jay has only been using it for six weeks, it takes some getting used to. The mask has to be just right, in order for Jay to be comfortable and have a restful sleep. Otherwise, a loose fit can cause extra oxygen to be pumped through, making it feel like a wind storm gushing through Jay's nose.

Well, every month a Walgreens respiratory therapist is supposed to visit our home, then examine the data the Vpap machine recorded over the month. Since this would be their first visit, we were pretty anxious because we were hoping they would make adjustments, so Jay would be more comfortable sleeping.

We also wanted to find out if there were alternative masks to try. I use a C-pap machine, which is quite similar. However, the mask that I use isn't nearly as complicated. Only a couple of simple straps to wrap around your head. Jay's machine has three straps and an oximeter (measures oxygen saturation) that attaches to his finger.

So, Jay scheduled the appointment for the therapist to come out today. He also called Walgreens yesterday, not only to confirm the appointment, but to request that they bring alternative masks too. Well, just like your typical cable company, Walgreens informed us to expect the therapist between the hours of 10 a.m.-1 p.m.. Okay, fine... 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., still waiting. Jay decides to call Walgreens to find out the status, he gets their voicemail. 1 p.m. rolls around, still no therapist! So Jay calls for a second time. Now it's revealed that the therapists' van broke down and would not be coming.

Sure, accidents happen, but not even a phone call to inform us? After waiting the entire day, no one bothered to let us know! Now we have to reschedule, not due to our own faux paux, but because of theirs. It is so frustrating having to rely on a service that is completely incompetent. Walgreens better get their act together, sooner instead of later.

How annoying! Walgreens should have called to let you know about the van, instead of making you wait around without any idea.

the only good news is that they did make amends.  Read my nice entry for details!
