Well, I'm off to see the Wizard - my Occupational Therapist at the GBMC Lymphedema Clinic. Seems that the thigh-high compression hose for which I was fitted 3 weeks ago, and received one week ago, are too big! That's good news in the lymphedma-world. It means that the maintenance program I've been adhering to is working. This regime includes twice-daily use of a sequential pump, performing MLD (manual lymph drainage) once a day, and wearing thigh-high Reid sleeves on both legs every night while I sleep.
I'm excited that my efforts are paying off. Those of us who deal with a treatable chronic condition are aware that even small successes are significant. There are times when it feels like I've taken three-steps-forward-&-two-steps-back, but that formula still yields one step forward, so it's WORTH IT!
