Yesterday was the final day of my PCA's vacation. A bit of planning went into getting my PCA care taken care of yesterday. Turned out my friend Linda has asked my fill-in PCA if she'd do her Friday overnight. It worked out because Tisha came to my house Friday night, got me in my nightgown and then went to Linda's. Then Saturday, she drove Linda's van to my place, helped me shower and dress, and then we drove back to Linda's where she did the same for her. Meanwhile, my friend Tom, who took over last night and this morning, got a ride to Linda's house where he met up with me. After all that, we all went to a late lunch at an all you can eat Greek, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern buffet. Lordy, was it yummy. I'm not usually a fan of buffets. Wheelchairs and buffets don't go well together usually. But Tom was there and Tisha had Linda, so we made it through. And, after my first pass, seeing what everyone else had, I kenw what to send Tom back for.
Buffet highlights were lightly barbequed lamb short ribs, spanakopita, kalamata olives and baklava. It must have been authentic because the place was full of middle eastern families. All for $10.99.. and, because my birthday month is here, Linda paid for both Tom and me. (I love my birthday, so even though it's not until April 12, I usually spread it out for a full month, before and after.)
We were so full last night, all we needed was an orange and some Girl Scout cookies to hold us over until morning. Then, I cooked. Made baked pears for breakfast (sooo yummy!), and then roasted a pork tenderloin (apricot bourbon sauce, fennel and coriander), with steamed peas and buttermilk biscuits.
And, Shaunta is home! So my life and routine is back to normal. I made it through another PCA vacation. Yes!
