So last night I actually considered driving with Hubby and Sweetie to somewhere where we could watch a fireworks display without hearing the noise so much. I mean, I know Sweetie would love it! Why deprive her of an awesome experience just because of my hatred of loud noises?

Long story short - we decided not to because we'd have to drive a pretty long distance just to catch a 15 minute long display - why waste the gas? And anyway, we'd get home well past Sweetie's bedtime. Better to just watch The Boston Pops on T.V.

Then, wouldn't you know it, the large family across the street from us - the one with all the girls Sweetie plays with - started to shoot off their own fireworks.

Yippee.

Whatever. Sweetie was amazed and she and Daddy went outside, watched a good show, and Sweetie got to hold some sparklers. I even went outside for a bit, as they really weren't shooting off anything too loud - yet.

Hubby and Sweetie came inside finally. But the night wasn't over! Seems the mom across the street was running to the store to get MORE firecrackers.

(Oh, and when I was initially outside, I heard that dad tell Hubby "We've got one really big boomer for later.")

Yippee.

By the time the mom got back, Sweetie had already asked to go to bed (at 10:15 p.m.! So much for the "past her bedtime" concern. Geesh!).

And by the time the "big boomer" went off, Sweetie was fast asleep in dreamland. And there she stayed (at least we think she slept through it. That, or she woke up be knew better than to get out of bed because of the noise).

So, yeah. There was a late, loud, rapid succession of some "awesome" proportions. But then all was quiet and I could relax. Finally.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

My son (with SB) has always despised loud noises. I've heard it's a very common complaint among people with SB. We bought him shooter's muffs to wear when watching parades, fireworks, air shows, etc. but have you tried any types of ear plugs? There are many different kinds out there, it might help for the future.
