I have two very bi-polar-different kitties. Daphne is the much older, paranoid, rescue-cat (with the brown and white coloring). Pixie is the 1 year old fluffy grey kitten, who's undoubtedly the most hyperactive feline on the planet (she drives me crazy). Although the two get along quite swimmingly, they aren't exactly known for sharing (you can blame this on Pixie).
Let's now discuss my stupid IKEA chair. I've had this chair for over 2 years, and neither was really *that* interested in the chair until recently, and here's why: I moved the chair over by the patio door. The chair is now at the perfect kitty-vantage point for checking out the outside world. And for two indoor cats cooped up in a 1 bedroom condo, to them, this is worth more than gold (or salmon, a cup of warm milk, whatever...). Simply put: They can't get enough of it.
So now that the chair has suddenly become this ultra-cool lounging location, the fighting has commenced. Nearly everyday, one cat is jumping onto the chair while the other cat is already there, pouncing on it until she successfully kicks it off. This "pouncing" has even moved into actual "kicking ass" territory, where the one with the claws (Daphne) lays down one fell swoop on the Junior fluff-meister, until she wins her spot back.
Well yesterday, a truce seems to have been negotiated. I came out to the living to water my plant, and here they were laying side-by-side (OMG shocked!). Both was calm, collected, and quite okay having to share.
Now I ask you: What in the Hell brought this on? Did they finally tire of this neverending battle?

I check in with our resident "Cat Lady" about ounce a week. After reading your blog I asked about how her cats tolerate each other. She said they get a lot more tolerant of each other when it gets cold. I guess it's hard to say no to a snuggle when you're chilly.
hi tiff. i think we are all ready for spring :) xoxo
