Alright Disaboomers....what does a quadriplegic wine-addict do when she lives alone, with no one around most of the time to open her wine bottles (my fingers are paralyzed, so I can't operate a corckscrew)? Stop drinking red wine? Hells no. Thanks to the shortage of actual "cork" (which is a natural, yet depleting ocean resource), wineries are starting to bottle their tasty wine with SCREW TOPS. Could this be anymore convenient for me? I highly doubt it.....can I get a w00t-w00t (yes I used to be a cheerleader).
There are a few wineries I've discovered through my local liquor stores that sell awesome red wines with these easy-to-open tops (I use my mouth, btw, to open them up...thankfully my arms still listen to me). "Big Red" out of Cali, and "Black Opal" from Australia both have tasty reds with screw tops. I'm a HUGE fan of Malbecs (South American red wine; very smooth), and ANY Shiraz. And just like that guy from "Sideways," Merlots are teh nasty. Ew! I don't like them either. I actually ahborr Cab Sauvs too, but that's just me.
Am I sounding like a yuppie yet? (lol)
So here I sit on this blessed, beautiful, early May, Friday night, sipping my lovely Black Opal (red) Shiraz. This particular screw-top wasn't easy to open, fyi. My teeth, and even the security guard's butchy grasp, wasn't strong enough to pop open the screw-top. LUCKILY, the hottie who lives down the hall from me was there during the wine bottle opening fiasco in the lobby, so we siphoned him for his "muscular" help (it worked, btw, lol).
Why 'o why isn't this man single, btw?! DAMNED GODS.
Anyways, in case you were wondering, red wine (1 glass a day) is great for the bod. It helps wih spasms, not to mention keeping your heart healthy....
Yum!

those are pretty easy to open right?
Sounds like an awesome reason/excuse to start drinking wine! I'm more of a kahlua girl. Pouring is my problem!
