So my faithful blog-readers, a big, monumental thing has happened in my life in the last 48 hours. I have a new bed! After 10 long years of withstanding a very old, worn-out mattress (I bought it used for Christ's sake in 2000), I now have a big, beautiful, Queen-sized, "ultra-plush," beautiful adjustable bed holding Court in my sexy bedroom.
Now I know, at face value, it's just a bed. What's the big deal, right? Well it IS a big deal for someone like me; a quadriplegic. My bed is literally my oasis; my time away from my stereotype-receiving wheelchair. So...how ironic (hehehe), that I bought a Stearns & Foster "Tropical Oasis Collection" mattress (with a Sealy adjustable boxspring). It comes with a latex, ultra-plush pillowtop matress, and the coolest part - it also comes with wireless a remote control! No more wires to worry about running over, etc, etc...
You have no idea how much easier, stress-free this bed will make my life. Totally worth the $1170.93.
It also has some vibrating massage feature built into both the feet and head; which I guess is pretty cool. But for me, the best part has gotta be the amazingly plush mattress. It literally feels like I'm being laid out on a layer of light 'n fluffy Cool Whip. Completely sublime.
I bought this bed on Craigslist the other day in "emergency mode," after the wires in my old bed's remote somehow cut in two and left the feet of the bed in the "up" position for the entire night. That was the final straw for me. Cause you see, I usually am more apt to spend my money on clothes, trips, shoes, going out, and makeup. Definitely not a bed! So for years, after putting and putting it off, it finally came to a head last week and left me frantically searching on Craigslist for the best possible bed, at a "reasonable" price.
So long story short, I got this new fancy bed. It's brand new (with no one else's germies on it. w00t!) and I got a song of a deal too. This type of bed is usually $2,500. So in hindsight, I guess spending $1170.93 on a piece of furniture I will literally spend nearly half of my life in, wasn't that bad of an idea after all.
