Concert Blog Part I: M.I.A.

This past week has been a really crazy, fun, and musical week for me. I saw two great shows! Love it :) The first one was the M.I.A. show at The Myth (a lame, but very cool and accessible "lounge" club in a suburb of Minneapolis). She's a 19 (?) year old Sri Lankan/Brit rapper. If you YouTube "MIA Jimmy," you'll see my favirite Bollywood-esque video by her. It's trippy and catchy! An always stellar combo....

So this club is very new, which meant the accessible seats were to die for. Once we arrived, the bouncers whisked my gf and me to this white leather, half-moon booth, with cute little round tables, RIGHT by the stage. "Gimpified V.I.P" I like to say :)

I am now a redhead, so going out to this show with my new "do" was even more interesting.  It's fascinating the change in types of men one attracts if you're either a redhead or a blonde; very wierd, but not in a bad way. I think I get more respect now actually... While bleached blonde screams, "Fuck me! I'm easy, fun, and AWESOME." Being a redhead says something like, "You're going to have to work for it a little bit to get me, Mister."

So back to the show: She only performed for an hour which was TEH LAME. I usually expect at least 1 hour and 15 mins from all the concerts I go to. BUT....at least she had a) awesome breakdancers, b) an awesome DJ, c) she sang "Paper Planes" as an encore, and d) she crawled out into the crowd and was right in front of us, at one point.
