One of the things I love about my life is that as of late (with the warm weather), there's a lot of stuff going on. Everything from outdoor concerts, to outdoor art fairs, conferences, grad parties, random friend get-togethers, to farmer's markets, there isn't a lack of things to do...if you're willing to go out of your house that is. And I, as you well know, am more than willing to leave the confines of my own home. I relish it, in fact. I have no care whatsoever if I'm in my wheelchair, if people stare, whatever. If they are uncomfortable around me, it's their problem. Life is too short to let other people's hang-ups control what I do, or where I go.
With all of that said (grin), this past weekend was a perfect example of who I am, and what I love to do. For starters, the entire weekend I was going back and forth to the Mpls Convention Center to attend the Nat'l FreePress Conference (www.freepress.net). Luckily, it's only a 15 minute walk from my house so going there Friday night to attend a panel, then roll home, was easy. Sat afternoon I went back (saw a cool film on the evolution of hip-hop music), had lunch nearby and saw Phil Donahue get out of his limo (his film "Body of War" was being screened), went back to attend another panel headed by the FCC Commissioner, then went to the MN Orchestra Hall to see the orchestra perform ABBA music at 7pm. It was off the hook. I am so in love with the song "Fernando" right now you have no idea...
After the ABBA tribute show, my friend and I went to this super cool, tiny club by the U of MN to check-out these rappers that were in town (for the FreePress Conference). Btw, have I stressed lately how much I love out-of-towners?? They're so clueless and cute and lost, and I love it when they ask me for directions or ask what the white fluffy stuff is in the air, or where Nicollet Street is. It's going to be mighty entertaining when the thousands upon thousands descend upon St. Paul/Minneapolis at the end of August for the RNC. I wonder if Republicans are more apt to get lost? Maybe I'll purposely give them wrong directions....
So the point of this post? Get out of your home and have fun, or try to. I don't care how messed-up your body might be, be like me and be stubborn...don't let the condition win. Ok? Ok :)

I'm diggin' the warm weather too Tiff. I swear I haven't been cold in three days. Woo freakin hoo!
Over the weekend I did some kite flying and spent Saturday fishing with my brother. I haven't felt this free to live sense last September. It was a long cold winter.
So I'm celebrating summer. Spending as much time as I can outside during the day and sleeping as naked as I can get at night. It only lasts a few months. I'm going to enjoy it.
awesome tim. i love kite flying too. reminds me of "rushmore" :)
