Pretty cool, heh? Yeah, I'm very pumped. Here in the Twin Cities, there's a cable access channel - CTV 15 - specifically for the northern suburbs, and they have a show called, "Disability Viewpoints" with Mark Hughes (he has CP, is 49 years old, and created the show about 8 years ago). Due to it's small viewing area, the show is far from being well-known, but that's no matter. I'm just thrilled Mark asked me to be his new co-host of the newly created "Lifestyles" segment.
"Lifestyles." When Mark told me that was to be my segment, he didn't make it very clear what he wanted me to talk about. When someone says "lifestyles" to me, as a writer, I instantly think what a terribly vague word that is. What does "lifestyles" really mean, you know? "Styles of life?" "Things to stay active?" "Activities for which to enhance your life?" It's really hard to say. I asked Mark for further clarification, but he just said "local social activities that people with disabilities can participate in."
And even though that description did help some, here I sit still struggling with future segment ideas. And an important thing to mention: The station is a non-profit station, which means BY LAW I cannot recommend any company, business, brand, nada. This is new territory for me. I'm not used to such limitations. And being that my first segment (July) will be on accessible cruises, how in the heck can I talk about accessible cruising w/o mentioning the best cruise lines to consider (Princess and Royal Caribbean)?!
Anyways, if any of you have ideas to share for my new segment, they'd needless to say be very appreciated :)
