I’ve only worked for Disaboom for a short time; but I’ve enjoyed every minute of it—it’s been exciting getting to know the members of the community and I’ve been doing my best to help that community develop and thrive. Community is something I’m passionate about, and I want to do all in my power to ensure that the Disaboom community is one that draws people in, validates them and gives them a sense of significance. Of course, community isn’t just me and it isn’t just you, it’s all of us who are willing to be involved, to take part and to give. That is why it’s important for us to ask each other questions and to get a feel for the community’s pulse and respond authentically in our own way. So, I want this community to respond about what they think of community in general. Here’s my question, and it’s one I’ll place in the forum too:
PS. I’ve blogged about Community before; if you’re interested you can read it here.

Hi Tim!
For me, community is a group of people sharing their thoughts, opinions, experiences, etc. on a wide variety of topics. It could be a small, close-knit community that focuses on a certain topic, a large widespread community that has a lot in common, anything really! Community doesn't even have to consist of people that you see in person on a regular basis. In my opinion, you can get a sense of community from an online community. Online communities are a great creation...you can blog about your feelings, partake in online discussions in forums, etc. For some people, it's easier to share their thoughts and feelings online, they don't feel as nervous as when they have to do it in person in front of a group of people. My hope for Disaboom is that all these new joinees start feeling comfortable enough to write blogs, contribue to discussion posts, start their own discussions about topics they're interested in - that would be great!
POINDEXSTER....YOU ROCK!!!!
i think eureka hit the nail on the head. community is also a place where everyone has a voice and everyone is included. community is a place where everyone contributes and is respected. community is a place where love and solidarity are mantras to live by.
