So, if you've been following my ‘Blog Hacks' series you may be already fairly on top of turning your Disaboom.com blog into an uber-functioning online destination. Maybe you've got your Blog Roll up and rocking and are working on managing your RSS feed. If you've got this far you're ahead of the crowd, but there are still tweaks to be made.
Some people like to read and others are bored out of their minds by text. That's why pictures can give your blog a spicy kick in the right direction. The visual cues that add punch to your words will be a reward to your readers, and those who find the written word a tad boring will have some eye candy to keep them interested. With the right pic everybody wins.
So, where can you find good pictures and stay on the right side of that stodgy old man, Mr. Copyright?
Why, free stock photo sites, of course! There are a number of sites out there that have loads of decent quality searchable photos available that are completely free to use. Usually the only requirement is that you attribute and link back to the source. Check out the following free photo sites (and be sure to read their terms and conditions before you use the images):
Of course, if you're truly set on reaching the next level of aesthetic prowess in blog presentation you'll need to ensure that your picture integration is seamless. Here's some info that may help. The width of the blog content area is 480 pixels. Edit your photos appropriately so they are 480 pixels wide or less and you'll be well on your way. Also, if you have text wrapping around your images be sure to add 3 to 5 pixels vertical and horizontal space (the last two fields in the insert image pop-up box).
That's it for now--combine this strategy with the Flickr capabilities I blogged about earlier and in no time at all your blog should be rocking with visual sweetness.

Thanks for the helpful tips!
my FAVORITE stock site is www.sxc.hu, will definitely have to check out your suggested ones!!
thanks, stacy! I'll have to check out sxc.hu for myself. I'll probably add them to the list here...
How do I put that wee tag at the bottom of my posts saying Subscribe to my feed?
hey Problemchildbride, I just manually past that tag on there at the end of most of my posts. The "Like what you've read?" is encased in <b> tags. and then I just link to my feed on the second part. I wish it was automated!
so, format is: <b>Like what you've read?</b> <a href="insert feed link here">Subscribe to my Feed.</a> (crossing fingers that the code shows up)
