Since I don't have a brilliant epiphony of my own to share with you today I thought I'd give the run down of my favorite Disaboom blog posts from the last week. These people had something to say and they said it well. Drum roll, please--here we go:
From DC, Day 3 by Martina - Martina is pushing the limits of civil disobedience in Washington DC at the ADAPT gathering. The first line of her post is awesome: "I am not in the jail, although I thought I would be for sure earlier this morning." Check it out and live vicariously through her activism (or sign up to go to next year's ADAPT).
We are the world by Liesl - Liesl delivers one of my favorite blog posts ever with her powerful examination of how the subject of disability is avoided, seemingly at all costs, by people who are able bodied. "People," she declares, "you are going to die, you are going to deal with disability! You will have to face the limits of your humanity, your biology and your patience when you are forced to deal with disability."
Do Not Attempt by Madmumbler - Madmumbler brings some comic relief to the morning with a rant about stupid warning labels ("warning: do not use blowdryer in bathtub") and the Darwin Awards.
Racing Chair Questions - emilysart - Emily tells of her plan to begin wheelchair racing and has some good questions about what it takes to get into wheelchair racing without spending a fortune. Madmumbler has already delivered some solid answers in the comments--that is the sort of community I love seeing on Disaboom; people who have great questions receiving answers and advice from other community members. Keep it up!
Well, there you go--check out the blogs I've linked to above and leave a comment on them if you like them!
Your comment may take up to 15 minutes to appear.
Thanks! I always appreciate your thoughtful comments.
Thanks Tim!
