There's just one problem: nobody "normal" gives even half a shit about disabled people. I mean, sure there are organizations devoted to helping the disabled but outside of that, the general public doesn't care. I've been legally blind since birth and I've "seen" (read: observed) how people treat the disabled. Not just me, either. I have disabled friends that get treated like shit too. It's a mostly uncaring world out there when it comes to the disabled. Sure, there are upteen hundreds (if not thousands) of people and organizations out there that are dedicated to the problems associated with different races, religions, skin colors, etc., but where are all the people when it comes to the disabled? They aren't there. It's a sad truth but it's the truth nonetheless.

re: Why Disabilism is Your Problem, My Problem, and Everyone's Problem

I've heard it enough times in my life-- that I can't possibly be DEAF because I speak too well.
