- Electromagnetic unit of current equal to 10 absolute amperes; a current that exerts a force of 2 dynes on a unit magnetic pole at the center of a circle of wire 1 cm in radius.
- abapical (-bapi-kl)
- Opposite the apex.
- abarognosis (-barog-nsis)
- Loss of ability to appreciate the weight of objects held in the hand, or to differentiate objects of different weights. When the primary senses are intact, abarognosis is caused by a lesion of the contralateral parietal lobe.

- Inability to walk.
- abasia trepidans (-bz- trepi-danz)
- Abasia due to trembling of the lower limbs.
- Abbe flap (ab flap)
- Colloquially called a pedicle flap, this regional full-thickness flap (including skin and labial mucosa) is used to reconstruct medial defects of the opposing lip, especially bilateral cleft.
- Abbott artery (abot ar-tr)
- An anomalous artery arising from the posteromedial proximal descending aorta, important during coarctation repair.
- Abbott method (abt methd)
- A method of treatment of scoliosis by use of a series of plaster jackets applied after partial correction of the curvature by external force.
- Abbott stain for spores (abot stn fr sprz)
- Spores are stained blue with alkaline methylene blue; bodies of the bacilli become pink with eosin counterstain.
- ABC
- Abbreviation used in both basic and advanced cardiac life support to ensure continued attention to airway, breathing, and circulation.
- ABCDE
- Abbreviation used in advanced trauma life support to ensure continued attention to airway, breathing, circulation and cervical spine, disability, and exposure.
