A number of conditions can put you at significant risk for having a stroke, heart disease, or diabetes. If you are overweight with an increased waistline, high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, or elevated fasting blood glucose, it’s time to come to terms with the fact that you may want to change your habits before facing serious consequences.

Studies conducted in 2005 by the National Cholesterol Education Program Adult Treatment Panel III have been shown that ischemic stroke (loss of blood circulating in a part of the brain) is largely predictable, as is heart disease and diabetes. And the quick indicator is a glance down at the notches on your belt.

Maybe it’s time to buckle up with an effort toward moving down a notch or two. It will do wonders for your attitude and it just might save you from serious medical conditions that can be avoided with equal parts information and serious willpower.

Difficult? Maybe. Worth it? Absolutely!
