One of the best ways to keep your body in good health is to eat a well balanced diet that is high in dietary fiber, low in sugar, low in fat and low in salt. Eating whole foods, fresh fruits and vegetables and limiting the amount of processed foods will help you keep your body healthy and provide you with more years of independence.
Remain SocialThe final step in extending your independence is to remain social. Remaining social will keep your mind and body active, and it will also help to keep you emotionally stable. You can remain social by volunteering, keeping a part-time job and by joining clubs and organizations.
Extending Your IndependenceIndependence is not something that is a given. In fact, if you don't take steps to preserve your independence now you will most likely need some sort of assistance later in your life. Fortunately, you can extend your independence by making small lifestyle changes like adding physical exercise to your routine, playing thinking games, eating healthier and remaining social.
