Founded in 1961, the members of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging help millions of individuals and their families through mission-driven, not-for-profit organizations dedicated to providing services people need, when they need them—in the place they call home.

In some instances, their 5,700-member organization has served their communities for generations by offering a continuum of aging services, including: adult day services, home health, community services, senior housing, assisted living residences, continuing care retirement communities and nursing homes. AAHSA's commitment is to create a future of aging services that is anchored by a consistent level of quality people can trust.

With a vision informed by dedication to healthy, affordable, ethical aging services for America, AAHSA is making an impact on the political and cultural landscape of America.  There are some “Big Ideas” that the American Association for Homes and Services has taken as their policy agenda. They’re simple, yet provocative, and they all bear the mantra: “Quality First.”

They seek to provide:

  • Services that people need in a timely manner and in their home environment
  • Quality that people can come to rely upon
  • Values that are mission-driven and not-for-profit
  • Advocacy for correct public policy—for the right reasons
  • Leadership through shared learning
  • Service that honors the dignity of all persons at every stage of their life

    • After 66 years of serving communities, the association remains strong and vibrant. With a talented and visionary staff, AAHSA remains a recognized leader on the national spectrum and is dedicated to leading the way to new and better systems of providing care for America’s seniors. And, of course, this leads to an active role in creating dialogue with congress regarding issues pertinent to healthcare and aging.

Visit their Web site at http://www.aahsa.org/ and see how you can benefit from their programs or become involved in their efforts to keep us all healthy and enjoying a quality of life that’s both dignified and well-deserved—no matter what our age.
