The Ticket to Work program is voluntary program that provides you with free training, job referrals and other services you need to work.
The goal of the Ticket Program is to increase opportunities and choices for Social Security disability beneficiaries to obtain employment, vocational rehabilitation (VR), and other support services from public and private providers, employers, and other organizations.
You can give your “ticket” (sent to you along with other materials when you first receive your disability benefits) to an approved provider of your choice. The provider can be either the state vocational rehabilitation agency or an employment network. You and the provider work together to make a work plan. The plan states exactly what services the provider will furnish.
(The information is drawn from the Social Security Administration’s Red Book and from Maximus, the company responsible for managing the Ticket to Work program.)

I have been told if I do go and use he ticket to work my disability income will cease and I will be in the same situation before: struggling to find work, no place to live, etc. Is this true?
