United Spinal Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with disabilities by helping them to more fully appreciate and enjoy the same activities as those with all other levels of ability. The United Spinal Association recognizes the vital significance in cultivating a sense of independence.
One of the means by which this is accomplished is through a dedication to increasing mobility and equality among those living with disabilities.
Wheelchair sports and other sports for athletes with disabilities are highly encouraged by the United Spinal Association because of the recognition that confidence and independence are qualities of life that anyone, of any ability level, can use to enhance enjoyment. There is also more to the mainstream than just racing wheelchairs and scooters, however.
The United Spinal Association has joined in partnership with the Sports Car Club of America to form United Spinal Motorsports. The goal of this partnership is to expand automobile racing capability to a mostly untapped market: those people dealing with spinal cord injuries and disorders.
