Management

Diagnosis

To test for diabetes, doctors will order either a fasting plasma glucose test or casual plasma glucose test. If two blood tests show that your fasting blood glucose level is equal to or greater than 126 mg/dl, the diagnosis is likely to be diabetes.

Symptoms

Type 1 diabetes symptoms include increased thirst, frequent urination, unexplained weight loss, fatigue, blurred vision, or loss of consciousness. Type 2 symptoms are similar, but may develop gradually, and occasionally may not be present at all.
