South Korean athlete, Im Dong-Hyun has already won team gold medals in the Beijing and Athens Olympics but London might be his chance at an individual gold.  What makes this so incredible is that Dong-Hyun is so short-sighted, he is known as Korea's 'Blind Archer'. His eyesight is so poor; he needs to be ten times closer in order to see objects clearly. And what makes it even harder for him is that he has had surgery and shoulder problems to deal with. It takes a great deal of strength to use the bow and arrow accurately, and Im Dong-Hyun is trying not to push himself too hard to catch up before the 2012 selection process begins. He spends some time each day in the gym, weightlifting to build his strength for the crucial qualifying tournaments in a few months' time. The commitment is tough. He’s had to give up time, freedom, and being confined to training quarters, but that make him who he who is. Even someone as good as Im Dong-Hyun, has only a 50/50 chance of making it onto the squad. Past performance isn't a consideration. Even if someone has gold medals in previous Olympics, they won't make the selection this time unless they do well in the local tournaments. If all the years of training pay off, there is only one souvenir he will want to bring home, his first personal Olympic gold.
