Morgan’s Wonderland Theme Park for Special Needs Activities | San Antonio, Texas
Completely Accessible Park
Located northeast of San Antonio, Texas, Morgan’s Wonderland sits on 25 acres and is completely accessible, with controlled entry and exit. Braille signage and a 3-D park model assist visually impaired guests, while service dogs have their own rest area. Better yet, every special needs child or adult visitor is admitted completely free of charge, while the entry fee for family and friends is extremely low.
Special Needs Activities
There are plenty of special-needs activities at Morgan’s Wonderland to keep everyone in your party busy. Drop a line in the eight-acre catch-and-release pond that’s stocked with a variety of fish, or go for a ride on the ultra-accessible carousel. Choose one of three play areas with several types of swings, including wheelchair swings, then cool off by the water cannons and remote-controlled boats.
Try the off-road adventure ride, relax in the music garden, or check out the sensory village. Stretch your arms or legs on the walk and roll path around the lake, and finish up in the theme park’s garden sanctuary. After you’ve rested up, you can ride a train that has wheelchair-accessible cars, or visit the sand circle or memorial wall.
Disabled Veterans Participate
The fully accessible park will offer disabled veterans (the largest military medical facility in the world is just four miles away) a place where they can go with their families and join in the fun, instead of sitting on the sidelines. Paralyzed Veterans of America volunteers will help staff the park, adding to the comfort level of disabled guests.
Disability Convenience and Security
The 18 restrooms at Morgan’s Wonderland are specially designed for your convenience, with oversized floor plans and ADA accessible stalls. They’re also both heated and air conditioned for year-round comfort. Family restrooms give you room for sitting and changing, and there is one shower stall with an area to clean up for anyone who needs it.
Security hasn’t been forgotten, either, with fencing around the park’s perimeter and the lake. Innovative radio frequency identification wristbands track every visitor, while PA and emergency notification systems grant extra peace of mind. Two first aid stations can handle whatever medical emergencies arise.
