The National Fibromyalgia Association (NFA) is an organization dedicated to helping people currently living with fibromyalgia, including the 10 million fibromyalgia patients in the U.S.

Providing Information and Outreach
“Educating, Encouraging, Empowering” is the motto of the NFA, which provides fibromyalgia patients with articles covering pretty much every topic related to fibromyalgia, including pain, pregnancy, sleep, exercise, alternative therapies, depression, juvenile fibromyalgia and more.  The NFA has designed their website to be a “one-stop shop” when it comes to fibromyalgia – a place where you can find the information you need regardless of the stage of your condition.

The NFA also offers visitors the option of purchasing items from their online store, which helps support the organization’s mission to develop and execute programs to improve the quality of life for people with fibromyalgia. Visitors can also donate, become members of the NFA or sign up for survey invitations, clinical trial notifications, advocacy, e-alerts or choose to receive information or specials from sponsors through e-mail.

Resources Available through the National Fibromyalgia Association
As an important part of its mission, the NFA provides detailed and authoritative information for people who have fibromyalgia and their loved ones. For example, at their website check out:

Fibromyalgia – information regarding symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, causes, prognosis, clinical trials, research stats and the science of fibromyalgia.

Community – access for patients to support group information, community events, advocacy, discussions, patient stories, ecards, membership and more.

AWARE Magazine – Fibromyalgia AWARE magazine is NFA’s online and print publication, and offers advice, research news, treatment options and lifestyle tips for fibromyalgia patients. The first and only fibromyalgia-dedicated consumer magazine.

Resources – Under the Resources tab on NFA’s website, visitors will find a resource directory (for treatments, insurance, legal issues, finances, medications, counseling, treatments and more) as well as a glossary of terms and definitions, a healthcare provider directory, online newsletter, sponsors and clinical trial information.

Research – information and descriptions of fibromyalgia research studies, participation information, current clinical trials, health providers specializing in fibromyalgia (by state), and a basic overview to help patients understand the science underlying the disease, treatment options, and ways to manage life with fibromyalgia.

In addition to these resources, membership in NFA offers benefits such as online education presentations, monthly newsletters, videos, expert advice, recent scientific research information, tips, and discounts at the NFA online store.
