I just had my first spinal steroid injection on Thursday. Since then I feel like I am going nuts, I am so impatient with the people around me,as a matter of fact I would prefer if no one were any where around me. Right now I'm not a very nice person, Is it my imagination or does this have anything to do with the steroids? If anyone has any insight on this please let me know !

Annadee,
I'm no expert in this area but is this "side effect" something the doctor should know about ASAP?Dave
Dave,
That's actually what I'm wondering,if I'm just crabbier and meaner than ever, grrr, or if this could possibly have anything to do with it.
Hi Annadee,
Thanks for the guestbook comments.
Were you able to ask the doctor about why you are starting to eat doors for breakfast and snack on bricks throughout the day?
Simply has to be those meds... LOL
Dave
Annadee, be sure and always check with your doctor after any medications. I have had these injections since about 1993 and usually you cannot get them more then 4 t0 6 times a year. Cortzone is the most common to reduce swelling and there are newer classes of these injections but the type of steroids are completly different then the class and dose you are talking about. I have found with any increase in pain I tend to not be around people also, and do get grumpy and the syptoms are often in my from pain management more then anything else when it involves other people. Then again my injections are usually spinal and are for a laymans terms not unlike the same things that happens to a mother giving birth with a saddle block.
I had three of those in the past. I had the same reaction. They also didn't work on me at all. Theyve tried steroids by mouth on me also. Those were so bad I passed out in the garage and it's lucky my wife found me passed out when I didn't come back inside after awhile or I would have literally froze to death. I also developed symptoms and was diagnosed with type two diabetes soon after I had those injections and oral steroids. The more I read the more I see how there could be a direct link from that. coincidence? maybe, but you should do some research before thinking about anymore of those injections especially if your having reactions. Let your doctor know at once.
Hi Annadee... I got a lower back injury (L3,L4,L5,& S1) back in 2002. I have been getting the injections and they didnt help me. Just made me blow up like a suma suma wrestler.(lol). I laugh to keep from crying all the time. I am still in all this pain. Like some others mention.....I got mines in for 3 months then have to wait a while and they would schedule me for another. I had been scheduled for surgery several times to be denied by the other parties. So I am still suffering especially when its raining or cold. Well ever I had my injections...they just put me in my bed and let me sleep it off. I was not bother but when I did come to...it looked like nothing was right for me. My firend calls me Ms Grumpy.
