    • TWeiss2:

My latest Psychologist tells me that all of the mental health folks in the past have preached things like, "Feel your feelings, man," and the like. He blames his profession for putting emotions before the thought process that needs to take place before those emotions come forth from mouths.

I could not agree with this more if I tried. I love hearing that! Feelings are nothing more than instinct if they don't have thought attached them, imo. I love that your therapist is taking this approach!

    • Hi Tom! I'm glad you stuck around; I think you're an asset to this site. I do take a similar approach. I think I drive some of my students crazy with the fact that I force them to learn the material for themselves, rather than hand feeding it to them. How else would they learn, though?

    • Alex this is the first time I've ever seen this thread on here.  You are a great example of how you can be at the bottom and it can't get any worse and what its like to crawl your way back to the sunlight.  Thank you for sharing that.  I wish you all the best for the future and may you find much peace and strength within yourself.
      God Bless!

    •  my son is 33 and i  have been in your position for many years. the first thing i would say is our lives are easier whenthere is no ativan around, i personally hate this drug and would urge you to change to something else. in my son it increases mania and hallucinations but he loves that,so beware the resistance to change if this does not help then you can go back  to it. i find depakote to be helpful but take meds as perscribed   my son also gets a haldol  shot 2 x a month for violent actions control and for me it helps although it can have some bad side effects for some.
