Okay, I'll change my stance on this joke. When it was originally posted by Justin and only written out, I found it offensive. Now, listening to that stuck-up English guy, it's really hilarious.

Oh. As easy as that?
Why?
Because all the right people are of the opinion that it is funny?
I think I already did some wondering in the written thread why it is that here it is funny, and written out offensive as hell.
Or was it in the "What is not funny?" thread?
I don't know.
But somewhere I did say that it seems to be of importance who is telling the joke. - And it also seems to be of importance who has already laughed about a joke. Or the other way around, deemed it freaking funny.
Because as my teacher always used to say: we are nothing but a flock of wethers, all following the bellwether.
So, actually I think the whole point of the "What is not funny?" thread is pretty much moot, because offensiveness might as well depend on how the weather is today, or if the coffee was pleasantly hot, or, in the end, on who is telling the joke.

Daisies: I think you're right that it depends on mood and the teller and audience for a joke to be funny. I also think things don't translate at times to the written form as I didn't remember this joke and didn't think it was funny when I read it, but obviously did think it was funny when I heard it. Though, I admit that the part I found funny was the OCD part, which was only funny because I identified with it and thought of several things to add. "After you've whiped the telephone key pad with antibacterial gel, press...." Anyway, it's interesting how this played out.

As in most of my posts, I wanted to offer something provocative. I enjoy stimulating the thought processes of others. Whether it is funny to me is of little importance. That you found this to be amusing completes my daily intention of putting a smile on another's face. I appreciate all the feedback. Thank you.

Thanks Rob! I thought it was so good that I figured my son in college would get a kick out of it also, so I e-mailed him and told him to check it out. Thanks again, Sandy
