I used to frequent my local SUBWAY restaurant quite often. Then, last month, I noticed they redid the tile and installed new tables. The original tables were wheelchair accessible and not bolted to the floor. The new ones are very high, like in a bar, and bolted to the floor.
I emailed SUBWAY via their corporate site. They, then, sent it the store owner, as the store is a franchise. She contacted me a few days later, via phone, and told me the supplier screwed up the order and didn't include a lower table, as they were supposed to do. She told me it would be done by the end of January.
I checked recently and saw the tables still there, all at the high level.
What should I do? I have seen other chains, like QUIZNO'S, do the 'high table' concept, but they do include low tables. They even, if no low tables are open, ask the customers to move to a high table, if they're able-bodied, which they gladly do.
I'm not 'sue happy', but I do want to be able to have the option of eating in or out, as able-bodied can.

Carlos--Like Debbie says, you would be amazed how fast the situation is corrected if the local TV station airs it. But since you probably do not want to become their enemy, try the non-adversarial approach first. Call the manager and inquire as to when it will be fixed. Mention that you want to handle this on friendly terms instead of contacting the local media or filing a federal ADA complaint. I bet the perceived threat will be enough to spur them to correct the situation on a timely basis. --hinge

Hinge is correct. Do you really want to eat food in a restaurant that you unleashed the media on? Give the operator another chance to comply, while making known your options of media exposure and federal intervention.

Does your new Subway have the lowered counter for ordering where the glass goes all the way down so (hopefully) we can see the condiments, meat, etc. for ordering? When ours renovated around Miami they added this feature-which improved access but lucky for us I haven't seen high-tops in this area at all.
I'd suggest following up with the contact you made before and see where that takes you....
