Thanks, Carla. Everything's cool as the hairs on a polar bear's behind, Barry.

Hey there. My stroke was in July of 2004 I was totally paralyzed on my right side. Like what has been said here progress was very slow. As for me when I got out of the hospital I couldn't get out of the house for weeks. I was in a basement room and had to have help going up and down the stairs but now I can walk without a cane and almost look normal doing it, that makes me really happy :) I still cannot use my right arm and hand for much but I manage to hold things. The things that make the all difference for me is my belief in God, keeping a positive attitude and support of family and friends, and a sense of humor - like when you fall over the dog that is right behind your legs that you didn't see and when your lying on the ground she's looking at you like where have you been? What took you so long to get here? There will be lots of bad days but this too will pass. Believe thath you can and you will! Take care.

I'm curious did you have problems with sleeping. You sure got alot to say - good and bad. My treatment compared to your was somewhere in the middle. I had some issues with my doctor being younger then me and his understanding of age and our issues. Your thoughts about my knee locking up is interesting. My PT's never dealt with my gait or its evaluation. My speech therapist was annoying, loud and in your face talker. So I stopped going and my speech came back without therapy. I take Tylenol PM's now only when I need them. Did anyone else have that sleeping issue ? I did get the shoulder thing too I thought it was me, bursitus and did mention it to my doctor - he said it would go away because my body would compensate. He did nothing about the sleep issue and I had chronic all over pain which he also did nothing about because I couldn't pinpoint where the pain was. I told him it was everywhere - he probably thought I was just trying to get prescription meds for painkillers.

Hi Barry,
I had a stroke in July 20,2005. It takes time for a stroke. May I ask a question?
Do you have a job WITH INSURANCE? Call Walkaide a toll-free call 866-909-9255(WALK).
I HATE THE BRACE; Sorry, but it is TOO wide and Abenki had WIDE feet, too. Please consider it for the BRACE and the SHOE.
You need to speak to the doctor for Walkaide; Waive M08 with the doctor (for footdrop).
Please, write for more details, ok?

barry, don't exactly know what the difference is in certain types of strokes i had three strokes back In 1999, you are doing remarkably well IOf you can get your thought process going enough to connect on the computer the single most important advice I can give you Is don't give up only two people know how much you 'll recover and that's god and yourself! If you have access to a pool use It! water helped my mobility alot but unfortunately for me I didn't have access to several years ago but I did start to ride a three wheel adult tricycle helped alot with my balance and eventually strengthened my legs I could pedal much further then I could walk, bicycle riding Is still one of my favorite things to do I know longer need the stability of an adult tricycle but I can ride my regular bicycle 10 miles at a time, make no mistake your life has changed forever! don't waste time grieving for what was but enjoy the new life you now have!
