      • I am going to be attempting to write a book about how I deal with chronic pain on a daily basis as well as my life as an amputee and I was wondering if you would consider sending me your individual stories as well. It will be written from the perspective of my Christian faith and how I have found the strength each day to live with my pain and continue daily with the activities I am capable of completing. The strength that I receive from above is what I will be trying to convey, my faith in Christ Jesus. I would love to add several chapters on how others have coped and been able to continue on through the many obstacles and barriers pain can cause in ones life.

This will be a book of encouragement with tried and proven ways of getting through each and every day as we go on in this life, what has worked for me can help each person if they are willing to look outside of themselves. It will not be a pity party or a self indulgent trip into depression and a sense of hopelessness, but will, I hope be a book of encouragement and self acceptance where we can understand that we can overcome and go on with life, even thou it may be in a more limited way.

I would like to include a section on the humorous side of amputee life, with real stories and ancedotes of actual incidents that have ocurred in ones life. If you would like to send me your stories I would be grateful and will begin in the near future once I have received a reasonable amount of input. I don't expect that a book like this would make a ton of money, but I think as a resource it would be helpful to all who experience the truama of a limb loss and the life of chronic pain. More and more people are unfortunately joining our ranks everyday and they need practical answers that can help them, their familiy members and friends deal with the new life and challenges that they now face. You can email me at: evangelistdaveharper@comcast.net

By sending me your stories, ancedotes, and information, you are allowing me the rewrite, edit and use your submissions. If you would like to send a photo in your email I will gladly use it in the book to help your story become more personal. I will only use your actual name with your permission. Just mention in your email if your name can or cannot be used in a future publication.

      • This can include anyones stories about pain and overcoming the circumstances and obstacles you face, not just amputees.

        Thank you in advance...Dave Harper

    • Hey, Dave!  Maggie here.

What a great idea, and I just want to congratulate you on accepting the challenge of such an undertaking.  I'm sure it will turn out to be a very valuable tool for many people and a source of encouragment and support in their time of need.

I'm not sure I really have much of a story, but if you read any of my posts and want to use anything from them, you are certainly welcome to do so.  I find my "moments of inspiration" often come out sounding a lot better than the longer versions, so you will be getting the best of me right off of this site if you care to use it.  You may also use my name, I don't mind that at all.

I also wanted to tell you that there is a site called "beliefnet" that you might want to peruse through sometime if you haven't already.  They have a section for Fibromyalgia sufferers there and for people in chronic pain.  I haven't read through all of it yet, but you may get some ideas from that also.  I find the site very inspirational in many ways, as they have forums and pictures and all different mediums to get a spiritual message out.  If you find an interesting story by someone, you might be able to contact them about being published in your book.

Anyway, hope that helps, and good luck in your endeavour.  I will be very interested to read the finished product, as I'm sure many here would be also.  You definitely have my support!

      Gentle Hugs,

      Maggie
