    • Attention, if you have a physical disability. . .

Hello, my name is Asya Miller and I am a graduate student at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs.  I am doing a project to learn about the experiences of persons with physical disabilities in interacting with Law Enforcement.  To do this I need some initial information about your experiences.  So please complete this short survey (ten questions) at:

http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=oa3inv7zYR4GjDfHV00qmw_3d_3d  There is an “accessible” link. This survey is voluntary.  The survey is anonymous and results will be reported in aggregate only. This research has been approved by the institutional Review Board at the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs through March 11, 2009 (IRB #1485334).  Completion and submission of the survey constitutes your informed consent to participate.  If you have any questions later, you can contact the evaluator, Asya Miller, blindtrack_star@hotmail.com or Dr. Sandy Wurtele (IRB Chair) at 262-4150.  Thank you very much for your time!

It is not our abilities that determine who we are, it is our choices. A.D.

    • Hello Asya:

I've been doing ADA work for over thirty years. Get yourself a copy of the ADA @ ada.gov and read it. use the status reports as this is case law in support of the law. Law enforcement is almost non-existant in ADA related issues. Or are you talking of a man here that suffered a seizure and the cops tazzered him repeatedly. Maybe the lazy Cops who park the cruisers in the handicapped spaces while moon lighting. Maybe the man who sued the county in violation of the act and was found to be a Vexatious Litigator in responce when the ADA under "retaliation and Coercion" forbids that as a violation. research is great but does little to nothing to help us. if you really want to help us get your law degree and specialize in ADA law and I'm not talking the money grubbing social security lawyers who are like vultures over a dead body. We have one lawyer in northern Ohio who does ADA law and he became over priced $35,000.00 retainers. I'm putting myself through law school just for this cause. Then there are the self proclaimed doctors who ramble on about parking permit abuse. When you see a guy standing next to a wheelchair bound person who do you feel sorry for? the guy standing may be dead in a week while the chair person may live 50 years.
