and everyone around me says I'm mean and bitchy because when I get frustaighhted

I scream and most of the time it dosen't make sence. getting my point across

has become a choir of its own, when your feeling like you have a hangover and

you don't remeber at the sametime, what I've been doing is keeping a jorualy

this way I can just read what reak need to be said writing you can put down what ever

you are and aren't sure about and a few days later I reread it and I can figure out

    • On my neuropsychologist's brochure it states that fibromyalgia causes brain damage. I asked her about it and she said why of course fibro and also chronic pain can cause BI in some people.

    • Iam new also. Just joined. Yes i have the same trouble. I have MS and Parkinsons so it may be caused by either. I dont know what is wrong with you . But many things can cause this. My doctor who also has MS has the same trouble. I have a trouble with dropping a word out a conversation. And it actually make some made. I did notice however that i go through spells where it kind of goes away.  And then it gets worde. With MS it seems this happens alot.

    • Hi.  I know exactly how you all feel, and it does help to know we are not alone in our symptoms.  Some days, I can not even remember friends names, which is so embassasing when making introductions.

    • Star -

I had to go to large print books to continue reading - vision problems have been a big part of my MS issues (another one of those hidden things people don't see).  The cognitive issues are a big problem in dealing with people and carrying on conversations, but I am able to still enjoy reading as long as it is large print!  I am grateful for what i can still do and try not to dwell on the things I can't do anymore (like driving) Hmm

    • Thanks, Beck, for your support and encouragement.

I have finally found a specialist in Toronto (Canada) who said he will keep trying whatever is available to me on my drug plan, including pain medication, until we find what works for me.  I can't even begin to tell you what a relief that was to hear, after four long years of suffering.  Unfortunately, the first medication we've tried isn't tolerable for me, so I am waiting to see what he faxes to my pharmacy next, but at least I know there will always be something else to try now until I finally get relief.

I can only assume that if I can get the pain levels down that my mind will also become a little clearer, at least that's what I'm hoping for.  I will sure let everyone know if I do find something that works.  We all need hope, and now I finally have found hope again.

      Gentle Hugs,

      Maggie

    • Maggie, I am so happy that you found someone that will help you with the pain.  Depending on what meds he is giving you to try, they might make you a little foggy for a while till your body can get used to it. I hope one works for you soon !!!! Take care.

    • Thanks, Newt!

I honestly don't care how foggy they make me as long as it gives some relief from the pain.  Four long years of this is about all I can take, I've had it with this illness!  LOL  I'm just a tad fed up, can you tell?  LOL  Unfortunately, I've had to stop this medication already as it is causing severe nausea, so on to the next one!  At least I know now there will be a next one and he's not going to just give up on me like all the others.  What a blessing that is!

I am in the middle of packing up for a move at the end of the month, so on top of being in pain and back into not sleeping well, I am living in a mess.....and I hate that!  Oh, I will be so happy when this month is over!  LOL  Pray for me that I will have the strength to get through this!  Thanks all, I know you are all wishing well for me and others and it sure makes all the difference, especially in a struggle like I am in right now.

      Gentle Hugs,
      Maggie

This  problem makes me feel so retarded.  I had to stop working because of this too.  My hand eye coordination was becoming so bad.  Now, often when I write I even insert words I have no reason for doing this.  Every once in awhile someone will make a nasty comment about it because they are bored.  I have to just try to ignore it but people get so petty sometimes.  I was actually an honors English student and hold Honor Role Status in College.  So this hurts but if I am not being graded on something I write, I will come back to edit when I can. If I can't or get a rude comment, I just leave it the way it is.  Gone are the days I would beat up myself for making a simple mistake.

It is sad, when we live in a world that feels we must always be perfect.  I understand, if it was work related but some people get so annoyed over such simple things.  I find others who just don't get it.  That was always my signal to find another Teacher or new friends.  I though didn't want my employers to pay for my mistakes, so I understood when I had to retire early.  Even famous writers have editors, I try to remind people.  Most who complain, don't want to be your editor, they just want you to be perfect for them.  Becoming disabled has sure made me see the world differently.

Thanksfully, so far, we haven't been invaded by any grammer bugs.  So far, so good!  I would hate to see anyone feel afraid of trying to write because they were afraid others would make fun of them.  I know most of us cannot help it.  I'm good at advanced Math.  I struggled with it fiercely but I am very good with regular figures and accounting.  We can't all be good at everything and I wish more people would keep this in mind before they are too harsh.

In business, as in school, we work with our strengths and try to make allowances for our weakness'.  I have found other things I can be good at to make up for that which I lack.  It is still annoying. I have to use timers a lot now.  My sense of smell is improving some but it is still hit and miss these days. So I can't rely on smelling something is done or burning.  Sometimes I only remember, when the smoke alarm goes off.  Then, it is a little too late to save whatever I was cooking.  Oh dear!

    • I can certainly identify with Pegasus!   I don't write down wrong words, but I just can't pull words out of my brain when I'm trying to talk to people - and that makes me feel "retarded" too.  I just stop talking and get this confused look on my face and get extremely frustrated - which only makes it worse.  When I was still working, those close to me would finish the sentence or provide the word and my kids do that for me now.  It just became impossible for me to continue working and be effective when I couldn't talk to people as an educated adult -- I have a master's degree and held a really good job with a university, but when your brain starts not cooperating, it becomes impossible to maintain that level of employment.  It is a hard thing to accept, after working so hard to get to that position in life.  As far as cooking --- I just don't do it at all anymore.   I burn boiled eggs because I forget I put it on in the first place!  Lucky for me I live with one of my daughters and her family and they do all the cooking.  if you can't make it in the microwave, i don't make it!!   We adjust - what other choice do we have?  I just try to remember the good things still in my life rather than dwelling on the negative things.  I always remind myself that things could be much worse and try to be thankful every day.

    •   You made a good point about our attitude toward this illness.  I too try to make the best of what I can still do.  It's difficult at times because others don't want to understand.  It is upsetting when others, not here, use it to make an argument just because they don't agree with what I am saying but cannot make a statement to contradict me.  I'm fine with debate.  I hardly believe I am always right or can't learn something from others.  I appreciate other points of view but I ask people to try not to get too personal.

I'm not one you want to tempt too much.  I've raised teenage boys, they teach me all kinds of bad habits.  I have gotten in trouble because I took advice from them.  Ah well.  It's a difficult world we have to live in.

I had a terrible time with one mechanic and I was flustered it took me another month to tackle the problem again.  Though everything went well with the new mechanic and my problem with my Van is finally solved.  So it pays to try again and don't take abuse from people who don't have any patience.  Tomorrow is always another day.  I have learned I must take a time out when I get too flustered.  I don't make choices when I am not well.  I just wish I had more well days than I do right now.

I do want people to understand that I am handicap not stupid.  As my vision gets worse, reading it more of a challenge.  When you have a brain that runs a mile a minute, it's hard to keep up with my train of thought oftentimes!

I am back on Ambien so hopefully, if I can get my sleep pattern closer to what most people function on,  I hope I'll be able to think clearer.  Usually, I will go over my posts at a later date to find errors so don't worry.  Someimes I don't but I have discovered, even though I do re-read my posts, I still miss stuff.  I don't do it to vex people, I just can't help it any longer.

Has an other asthmatics find it difficult to write?  I think I use too many commas.  That is because I pause more when I speak.  You write as you would speak usually.  I read so much and from different time periods and writing styles have changed over time.

    • More and more increasingly in the past few years I have started forgetting what I am saying as I say it. I have been mid sentence mid word and the entire topic just drops off the earth to me and I stop and look around waiting for someone to help me remember. I have had this "they think" for quite a few years and I started having this in High school which was about 5 years ago and being a teenager it seemed ok but as I get older its getting increasingly worse and more debilitating. I have recently started writting notes everywhere all the time even just about things I'm speaking about at that time so I can keep up with myself.
