    • Hello!

I have a friend who has Spina Bifida and Lupus. Last night, I got a call from her saying that she was in the hospital. The doctors think that her liver might be failing. My question is: Can Lupus attack the liver?

Sorry, I've heard of the condition, but have no idea what parts of the body this disease can affect!

      Thank you!

I am sorry that I cannot answer your question directly, but I do have some information.  I know that when my own liver was in trouble (from scleroderma, a sister of Lupus), and oxycontin, I was advised by an experienced herbalist.

The Liver is the one organ in the body that has the ability to regenerate itself ! !  MILK THISTLE, an herb that has been safely used since the middle ages and can be found in most health food stores, can be very helpful in this regard.  Also, Ganoderma Mushrooms (hard to find) and Reishi Mushrooms (available from Quantum Nutrition Labs, Round Rock, Texas 78664, among other sources) are also effective.  They can be used together, or, if necessary, MILK THISTLE alone can probably have a major impact, depending on your friend’s condition.

I would like to say that I know “alternative medicine” is a controversial topic from some of the responses I have received on this site, and I also know that I have received a large number of grateful responses to the information it has been my privilege to share.  Please remember that I am speaking from a life saving experience with alternative medicine, as well as multiple experiences with pain reduction and symptom reduction.  I would just ask that all Disaboom members remember that this is just one person’s experience and opinion, and we all want to offer the best help we can.

[P.S.  I actually take a combination of allopathic and alternative medications and methodologies as no one source has all the answers.  I am also very careful not to mix where contraindications might be an issue, but in this case, these herbs are very safe.]

My very best wishes to you, and particularly to your friend.

      Regards,  Bonnie
