And depends on the level of function. In my son's case, he has to cath because he cannot fully empty his bladder without cathing, which would eventually cause UTIs. His last UTI was when Medicaid forced us to switch him from Detrol to Sanctura, which ironically keeps him drier during the day, however, that triggered a UTI. *LOL* Once we knew that, he caths more often and hasn't had a recurrance.
Thank you all for your replies, appreciate it very much. Been to the doctor coz, I got my first uti (yeheey, im a certified member now lol), taking meds for it. and will be back again next monday, to see if it clear already. Ask the doctor about what you told me here guys, and just like you he said, whatever fits me, but he points out that I have to be ver careful and be vigilant. Now I have to submit my urine sample to the lab for monthly check up whether I have uti's or not.
And the doctor also said to me, that there is a more possiblity for me to have uti through cathing than to wearing diaper. But he would like me to have ultrasound for my bladder, so that I can be sure and have a peace of mind. And one more thing, I make it a point to clean and change diapers 4 times a day, using antiseptic wash and petroluem jelly. I dont have a probem with diaper rash even before. I also took a shower 2 to 3 times a day. I really appreciate it that I find this site, its been a great help to me. And thank you all for you interest and really good explanation to me. God Bless.
madmumbler, thanks again. No, Im not taking any medication to control my urine, there is no need coz, Im a stay home mom, I have all the time in the world lol. And I learned about mitranoff only in this site. I do not have a problem with my bowel movement because im doing it everyday, thanks to herbal tea my mother is giving me. But will follow your advice, im now looking for a very good urologist, the one whom I can trust. You see I have a problem trusting doctors, im paralzed now because of one certain doctor. But enough of that, I moved on. But I did go to a doctor, although he's not a urologist. But like I said, I have my first uti and I am taking antibiotics for it.
Thanks again and Take Care. Angie
